This is a new inclusive event for a Dorset audience with the aim of promoting handmade ceramics. The event will feature over 25 ceramicists selling a wide range of handcrafted pottery. I make handmade ceramics on the wheel in small batches, focusing on pieces that are both practical and enjoyable to use every day. I love experimenting with colour to create work where every piece feels individual. My work includes a mix of functional pottery, decorative ceramics, and personalised pet bowls, all made by hand in my home studio

Amelia Christoffers is based in West Dorset. She began creating vessels intended to encourage minimalist flower arrangements. After working as a florist in London for several years, she became discouraged by the amount of waste produced within the flower industry. Having taken pottery lessons on and off since childhood, she began sketching containers that could stand alone as sculptural pieces while also serving as vases for just a few precious stems.

Since then, she has expanded her collection to include mugs, cups, and lamps. In 2025, she moved into a larger studio, where she now teaches private workshops alongside weekly classes in hand-building and wheel throwing.

Since I started working with clay in 2024, my practice has embraced experimentation. My ideas have constantly evolved through surface exploration and layered decorative techniques. I use a combination of glazes, home printed decals, masking and resist, bold pattern and abstract mark
making. I create wheel thrown forms, working primarily in stoneware and using a variety of clays, enjoying different colour and surface textures. I throw clean, simple forms, creating a blank canvas for decoration.

I grew up in Dorset, studied a Visual Arts Diploma and Art Foundation course at Weymouth College. I went on to live in Bristol, graduating with a First-Class Illustration Degree at UWE. After years of travel and living abroad, I returned to the UK to work a variety of creative roles including picture framer, prop maker, themer and specialist painter for Damien Hirst.
I see ceramics as a way to combine my love for sculpture, painting, mark making, collage and surface design. My varied art background has helped to influence my current practice and inspire an intuitive making process. I will continue to enjoy playing with different ideas and creating pieces that reflect curiosity, spontaneity, and a growing connection to clay.

I'm a young potter that lives and throws out of my campervan. As this life style allows me to create in many different locations, I'm constantly inspired by the places I explore. I primarily throw textured forms and tea bowls. I enjoy the individuality of each piece.

In todays fast-paced world, the connection between nature and personal wellbeing is more important than ever. As an artist, I find myself constantly drawn to the elements of the natural environment both here at my home in Portland, and West Dorset.

I am exploring how they influence my creative process and emotional state. In this exploration, I aim to delve deeper into the ways that nature plays a role in my artistic practice, in this case the sea, reflecting on the serene moments it offers and the inspiration it ignites. This journey intertwines my experiences with the natural world and my quest for a greater sense of wellbeing, often discovered on hikes around the island.

A teacher of design for over 40 years in secondary schools and still teaching pottery.
